Fernando Llorente 'wants new Tottenham Hotspur contract'

Tottenham Hotspur striker Fernando Llorente is hopeful that his form during the absence of Harry Kane will help him to earn a contract extension with the club.

Tottenham Hotspur striker Fernando Llorente is reportedly keen to sign a new contract at the club.

Llorente's current deal expires at the end of the season, and the Spaniard looked certain to leave this summer having fallen down the pecking order under Mauricio Pochettino.

However, an injury to Harry Kane and international absence for Son Heung-min has opened the door for the 33-year-old to stake his claim for an extension.

Llorente has scored two goals in three games since replacing Kane and has six in 17 appearances across all competitions throughout the campaign.

talkSPORT reports that clubs in Turkey and China are interested in snapping up the former Spain international on a free transfer in the summer.

However, Llorente is hopeful that his performances during Kane's absence will help to earn him a new contract with the Premier League outfit.
