Erik Lamela among Roma squad

Erik Lamela has been named in the Roma squad for tomorrow's Serie A opener against Livorno, despite the fact that he has been strongly linked with a move to Tottenham Hotspur.

Discussions between the two clubs over the transfer of the Argentine are thought to be at an advanced stage, with Spurs reportedly prepared to pay £30m for his signature.

However, that has not prevented Roma coach Rudi Garcia from making the 21-year-old part of the travelling party for the trip to the Armando Picchi.

It is believed that Tottenham head coach Andre Villas-Boas has made Lamela his number one target before the transfer window closes early next month, having seemingly lost out to Chelsea for Brazilian attacker Willian.
