Harry Kane on target as Tottenham Hotspur beat Sydney FC

Harry Kane scores the only goal as Tottenham Hotspur finish their post-season tour with a 1-0 win over Sydney FC.

Harry Kane scored the only goal of the game as Tottenham Hotspur finished their post-season tour with a 1-0 victory over Sydney FC on Saturday.

The England international netted twice earlier in the week as Spurs earned a 2-1 win over a Malaysia All-Stars side, and it was another success for the striker before he prepares to join up with the Under-21s for this summer's European Championship.

It was predictably sluggish start to the friendly for Mauricio Pochettino's side, but they threatened early on when Andros Townsend cut inside before sending a shot over the crossbar.

Ivan Necevski then made a good save to deny Townsend before keeping out a firm effort from Kane a few moments later.

Spurs continued to pile the pressure on and the eventual winner arrived just before the break when Erik Lamela played through Kane, who kept his composure to pick out the bottom corner.

Regular changes from both teams in the second half affected the rhythm of the match, and Spurs were almost pegged back when Bernie Ibini-Isei headed just past the post.

Kane, who played 85 minutes, went close to adding a second when he created space in the box before seeing Sebastian Ryall clear his shot off the line.

It was a comfortable finish as Spurs remained in control in the closing stages to finish their post-season commitments with another win.
