Andre Villas-Boas wants winning momentum

Andre Villas-Boas hopes that a winning momentum will help Tottenham come through their spell of three matches in six days unscathed and with good results.

Andre Villas-Boas is hoping that Tottenham Hotspur can continue to keep picking up victories in order to help them through their hectic upcoming fixture schedule.

Spurs beat Norwegian side Tromso 3-0 in their Europa League group stage opener in midweek and now have two games in two days, starting with a Premier League trip to Cardiff City on Sunday.

While manager Villas-Boas has bemoaned the fixture congestion, he has admitted that winning in Wales will give them great momentum heading into the third-round Capital One Cup tie at Aston Villa 48 hours later.

"Now the fixtures start coming," Villas-Boas told the club's official website. "We have experience of playing Thursday, Sunday from last season, which is good. That can serve us well this season.

"The main thing now is to get a good result in Cardiff because a good result there will help us recover quickly for a game that's played two days after at Villa."

The Lillywhites have won five out of their six matches in all competitions this season, losing only to North London rivals Arsenal in a 1-0 defeat - the only goal they have conceded this campaign.
