Tottenham Hotspur defender Jan Vertonghen could reportedly be out of action for the entire festive schedule due to an ankle injury.

The Belgium international suffered the problem during a 2-1 victory over Fulham last week.

While the player himself was hopeful of a swift recovery, an MRI scan has detected ligament damage and a four-week stint on the sidelines could be possible, according to The Guardian.

The North London outfit are said to be awaiting the results of more medical tests.
