Tottenham preparing approach for Sturridge?

Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly identified Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge as a back-up option for Harry Kane.

The Lilywhites are currently relying on Fernando Llorente to lead their line in the absence of Kane, who has suffered a recurrence of an ankle injury that has troubled him over the past few seasons.

Sturridge is due to become a free agent at the end of the season as Liverpool have not offered him a contract renewal, and The Mirror claims that he may be on his way to North London.

Spurs will give the England international a chance to re-establish himself in the Premier League, though he is believed to also have offers from teams abroad, including Major League Soccer side New York City FC.

The report indicates that Sturridge will be offered a two-year deal by the Lilywhites and will replace Llorente in the squad should he accept, with the Spaniard expected to move on.

Sturridge has been used 14 times in the top flight by Jurgen Klopp this season, scoring on two occasions.
