Scott Parker could be forced to miss the start of the Premier League with an Achilles injury.

Scott Parker faces the prospect of missing the start of the Premier League to have surgery on a persistent Achilles problem.

Parker was forced to miss the final month of the domestic season with the injury but managed to be an ever-present in England's Euro 2012 team.

The Tottenham Hotspur midfielder now faces a race against time to be fit for Spurs' opening league match against Newcastle United.

Parker could also be ruled out of England's friendly against Italy in Geneva on August 15.
