Kane: 'Spurs definitely in title race'

Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane remains confident that his side can stage a similar title run to last season in the second half of the campaign.

Harry Kane has insisted that Tottenham Hotspur are still in the mix to win the Premier League title, despite finding themselves 10 points adrift of leaders Chelsea.

The Lilywhites have won just two of their last eight league games, culminating in a narrow 1-0 defeat to Manchester United at Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon.

Spurs have one point more at this stage of the season compared to 12 months ago, however, when they staged an impressive charge for the top-flight crown only to fall just short as Leicester City kept their composure at the top.

Kane believes that his side can build on last term's impressive run and begin climbing up the congested table over the Christmas and New Year period.

"I definitely don't think we are out of the title run," he told Sky Sports News. "We were at a similar stage this time last season and this was when we starting putting good results together. In December and January we picked up a lot of points.

"That gives us belief to go and do that again. There are so many good teams in the league now that the teams above us will definitely drop points and it will be up to us to capitalise on that.

"I think the next four games are very important for us to go and win. That will take us to 19 games, halfway through the season. We'll see where we are at then and take it from there."

Spurs face Hull City at White Hart Lane on Wednesday evening, before games against Burnley, Southampton and Watford over the coming weeks.
