Martin Jol says that Tottenham Hotspur's first goal came against the run of play.

Martin Jol believes that Tottenham Hotspur are genuine contenders for Champions League qualification following their 3-0 victory at Craven Cottage this afternoon.

A brace from Jermain Defoe followed Sandro's opener to help the north London outfit into fourth place in the Premier League.

Jol said that he was pleased with his team's first-half performance, but believes that the first goal completely changed the game.

"We played well in the first half," said the Fulham manager. "We had more possibilities than Tottenham.

"After the goal it changed and we lost a lot of spirit. They scored three out of nothing."

"Can Tottenham finish in the top four? I think so, just look at the players they have got," he added. "A lot of players are still there from when I was managing them. I worked with 70% of that squad and they will only get better and better."

The Cottagers sit 12th in the table.
