Hugo Lloris: 'Tottenham Hotspur must remain humble'

Tottenham Hotspur captain Hugo Lloris says that the side need to be "humble" following their triumph over league leaders Manchester City.

Tottenham Hotspur captain Hugo Lloris has insisted that the side must remain "humble" following their 2-0 victory over Pep Guardiola's Manchester City at the weekend.

The three points left Mauricio Pochettino's side as the only unbeaten team in the Premier League and propelled them up to second in the table, one point behind leaders City, who had enjoyed a 100% record until their trip to White Hart Lane.

"In football, it's a lot about belief and we have some strong basics that we are building up now from the beginning of the Mauricio Pochettino era," Lloris, who has been with Spurs for four years, told the club's website. "I think we're improving every week, every month. Our team is still young but there is a big appetite here, we are all hungry to get great performances.

"It's true you need to be consistent in the league but when you get the opportunity to play one of the top teams like City you need to enjoy it and play at your best level, like we did on Sunday.

"It was also important to win before an international break but we must remember that the season is long and we must always be humble."

Spurs next face a trip to West Bromwich Albion when Premier League action resumes after the international break on October 15.
