Jermain Defoe "delighted" with victory

Tottenham Hotspur striker Jermain Defoe has expressed his happiness after his side held off a challenge from Swansea City to win 1-0 at White Hart Lane this afternoon.

Hosting Spurs came under some intense pressure from the visiting Swans in the closing stages, but the Tottenham rearguard managed to hold firm.

"It is well known that we've conceded late goals but it was a fantastic performance. It's something that we've worked on during the week," Defoe told Sky Sports News.

"We were quite confident going into the game and we are all delighted."

The victory has lifted Spurs up to fourth in the Premier League table.
