Emmanuel Adebayor admits it was a relief to end a recent run without scoring by netting against Newcastle this weekend.

Tottenham striker Emmanuel Adebayor has admitted it was a relief to end a goal drought of 713 minutes this weekend.

The Togolese, who is on loan from Manchester City, netted one and set up the other four as Spurs brushed aside Newcastle on Saturday.

"I had a tough time. I didn't score for a few games but I came back and scored and I made a lot of assists," he told Spurs TV Online.

"It's good for the confidence. We are all human. When you go through four, five, six games without scoring you start questioning yourself."

The 27-year-old also spoke of his happiness at new strike partner Louis Saha, who scored twice in the Newcastle win.

"It was easy because I know [Saha] from France and I know how he plays," Adebayor added.

"We talked a lot before the game. I know where he goes on the pitch and we talked a lot on the pitch. That made it easy for us."

The victory put Spurs within seven points of league leaders Manchester City.
