Gary Lineker: 'Gareth Bale's thrown away Olympic chance'

Former Tottenham Hotspur striker Gary Lineker has blasted Gareth Bale for pulling out of the Olympics following his pre-season appearance for Spurs.

The Wales international was ruled out of the London Games with a suspected back injury but managed to score in the North London side's 1-1 draw with Los Angeles Galaxy last night, just days before Team GB's Olympics campaign.

Lineker wrote on Twitter: "Gareth Bale who pulled out of the Olympics through injury played for Spurs last night. Once in a lifetime opportunity thrown away. Baffled."

Stuart Pearce's Team GB side kick off their campaign with a clash against Senegal at Old Trafford tomorrow.
