Tottenham lineup vs. Man United: Predicted XI for EFL Cup quarter-final

Bissouma return, full-back conundrum: Predicted Spurs lineup vs. Man United

Tottenham Hotspur could be without as many as nine players for Thursday's EFL Cup quarter-final clash with Manchester United in North London.

While Rodrigo Bentancur will serves the sixth of his seven-game suspension after the club's appeal over the length of his ban was rejected by the FA on Tuesday, Cristian Romero, Micky van de Ven, Richarlison, Ben Davies, Wilson Odobert (all hamstring), Guglielmo Vicario (ankle) and Mikey Moore (illness) all remain in the treatment room.

Destiny Udogie has emerged as a doubt after the left-back was taken off in the first half of last weekend's 5-0 Premier League win at Southampton with a thigh problem.

Djed Spence was handed his first competitive start for Spurs against the Saints - 884 days after joining the club - and although he is a right-back by trade, Ange Postecoglou may be forced to play him at left-back if Udogie is ruled out, with Pedro Porro recalled at right-back as Andre Gray continues in central defence next to Radu Dragusin.

Yves Bissouma is available for selection after serving a one-match ban last time out and the midfielder is in line for a recall, which could see either Lucas Bergvall or Pape Matar Sarr make way.

James Maddison scored two first-half goals against Southampton and is poised to continue in an advanced midfield role, while Postecoglou will weigh up whether to stick with Son Heung-min and Dejan Kulusevski - who also scored last weekend - on the flanks, or hand starts to Brennan Johnson and Timo Werner.

Both Son and Werner, as well as youngster Will Lankshear, are also candidates to start up front if Postecoglou opts to replace Dominic Solanke, who has scored just once goal in his last eight appearances.

Tottenham Hotspur possible starting lineup: Forster; Porro, Gray, Dragusin, Spence; Bissouma, Sarr; Kulusevski, Maddison, Johnson; Son
