Spurs to be without Dembele until 2019

Mauricio Pochettino has revealed that Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Mousa Dembele is to miss the remainder of the year with an ankle injury.

The Belgium international suffered the setback during last weekend's 3-2 win against Wolverhampton Wanderers at Molineux.

Dembele, who has a history of foot injuries, underwent a scan this week which revealed slight damage to his ligaments.

Providing an update on the 31-year-old's injury, Pochettino told reporters at Thursday's press conference: "We hope that from the beginning of January Dembele will be ready.

"After that, it's about the evolution, which is very dynamic and always it's about the [individual] patient."

Dembele is out of contract with Spurs at the end of the season and is therefore free to speak to clubs over a free transfer from January.
