Conte admits "bad news" over Ryan Sessegnon injury

Tottenham Hotspur boss Antonio Conte has conceded that Ryan Sessegnon will likely remain absent until after the next international break with a muscular problem.

The ex-Fulham starlet went down in the first half on Monday's 5-0 victory over Everton and had to be replaced by Sergio Reguilon for the second 45 in North London.

Sessegnon has only made 15 appearances in all competition this season due to injury, and Conte has now admitted that scans on the 21-year-old's latest issue have not been reassuring.

Speaking to reporters ahead of Saturday's Premier League clash with Manchester United, Conte said: "Bad news about Ryan Sessegnon. He had a scan and a muscular problem. Maybe we'll see him after the international break," as quoted by football.london.

"Sometimes though there is a predisposition to have this type of problem. He's very strong physically and sometimes it's good to be strong for your body sometimes it's not when you're too strong for your body.

"His performances were good, he was excellent and he was improving. He's very frustrated. It's very young to see a player like this frustrated by these injuries. It's a pity. Also we have to work with him in the human aspect."

Sessegnon has already missed 11 top-flight games this season due to injury, and Conte also confirmed that Japhet Tanganga and Oliver Skipp remain absent.
