Another defender down? Spurs injury, suspension list for Brentford clash

Still searching for their first Premier League success of 2025, Tottenham Hotspur hit the road to meet London rivals Brentford at the Gtech Community Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

Ange Postecoglou's men can be considered genuine relegation candidates after last weekend's 2-1 loss to Leicester City - their fourth top-flight defeat on the spin - left them 15th in the Premier League table.

However, the kids were more than all right for Spurs on Thursday, as three goals from three academy products propelled them to a 3-0 Europa League win over Elfsborg as they sealed their spot in the last 16.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up Tottenham's latest injury and suspension news ahead of the battle with Brentford, who controversially sunk Crystal Palace 2-1 last weekend.

Radu Dragusin

Status: Out Type of injury: Knee Possible return date: Unknown

It would not be a Tottenham win without a new injury concern; Radu Dragusin awkwardly jarred his knee against Elfsborg in midweek, and while there is still no official diagnosis, Postecoglou admitted at full time that he was worried about the centre-back.

James Maddison

Status: Out Type of injury: Calf Possible return date: February 16 (vs. Manchester United)

James Maddison suffered a calf strain prior to last weekend's loss to Leicester, and Postecoglou has now confirmed reports that the England international is likely to face between two and three weeks on the sidelines.

Dominic Solanke

Status: Out Type of injury: Knee Possible return date: March 8 (vs. Bournemouth)

Dragusin joins £65m striker Dominic Solanke in the knee injuries club, as the former Bournemouth striker is expected to be out until the beginning of March with his serious problem.

Brennan Johnson

Status: Out Type of injury: Calf Possible return date: February 16 (vs. Manchester United)

Brennan Johnson tweaked his calf against Arsenal in January's North London derby, and it will still be another couple of weeks before the Wales international is considered for selection again.

Timo Werner

Status: Out Type of injury: Hamstring Possible return date: February 16 (vs. Manchester United)

Fellow winger Timo Werner hurt his hamstring in the recent FA Cup third-round win over Tamworth, and the RB Leipzig loanee - who has been linked with a transfer to MLS - is not anticipated to come back until mid-February either.

Destiny Udogie

Status: Out Type of injury: Hamstring Possible return date: February 16 (vs. Manchester United)

Destiny Udogie should now have entered the second half of his rehabilitation from a hamstring injury, but as is the case with Werner and Johnson, he is still a couple of weeks away from being ready.

Guglielmo Vicario

Status: Out Type of injury: Ankle Possible return date: February 25 (vs. Manchester City)

Guglielmo Vicario appears to have returned to full training a couple of months on from his ankle fracture, but Postecoglou stressed at the start of January that his comeback was still pencilled in for late February, and that is not believed to have changed.

Cristian Romero

Status: Out Type of injury: Thigh Possible return date: February 9 (vs. Aston Villa)

Cristian Romero is on the cusp of making his first appearance of 2025 following a thigh injury, but he still has a "few boxes" to tick, according to Postecoglou, who has already ruled him out of contention for this fixture.

Wilson Odobert

Status: Out Type of injury: Hamstring Possible return date: Unknown

Summer arrival Wilson Odobert is on the mend from the hamstring procedure he underwent in November, and there is still no estimated comeback date for the ex-Burnley man.

TOTTENHAM'S SUSPENSION LIST

Tottenham have no players suspended for this game.
