Tottenham Hotspur team news: Injury, suspension list vs. Manchester City

Sports Mole rounds up Tottenham Hotspur's latest injury and suspension news ahead of Saturday's Premier League clash with Manchester City.

Tottenham Hotspur face arguably English football's toughest test in just their second match of the new season on Saturday when they face Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium.

The champions were imperious on the opening day as they thrashed West Ham United 5-0, whereas Spurs left it late to avoid a scare against newly-promoted Aston Villa.

A goal from debutant Tanguy Ndombele and brace from Harry Kane ultimately saw them pick up a deserved victory, though, and they will now be looking to prove their title credentials against the team most expect to set the pace once again.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up the latest injury and suspension news for Mauricio Pochettino's side.

Dele Alli

Type of injury: Hamstring
Possible return date: August 25 (vs. Newcastle United)

A recurrence of a hamstring injury kept Dele Alli out of the season opener and will do so again this weekend, although he is expected back for their third match of the campaign.

Juan Foyth has been ruled out until September at the earliest after picking up an ankle injury during a pre-season clash with Bayern Munich.

Ben Davies

Status: Slight doubt
Type of injury: Groin
Possible return date: August 17 (vs. Manchester City)

Ben Davies is back in training after a groin injury and is now working his way back up to fitness. Pochettino should have him available for this match.

Ryan Sessegnon

Status: Out
Type of injury: Hamstring
Possible return date: September 14 (vs. Crystal Palace)

One of Tottenham's deadline-day signings will likely have to wait until after the international break to make his debut for the club, with Ryan Sessegnon still recovering from a hamstring problem.

Return date: August 25 (vs. Newcastle United)

Son Heung-min's red card against Bournemouth in the penultimate game of last season ensures that he has missed the start of this term, although Saturday is the final game of his three-match ban.
