Result: Tottenham Hotspur 3-1 Shamrock Rovers

Tottenham Hotspur have claimed their first win of this season's Europa League with a 3-1 victory against Shamrock Rovers at White Hart Lane.

After a goalless first half which Spurs controlled, the visitors took a shock lead when Stephen Rice flicked in Gary Twigg's goal-bound shot.

However, three goals in six minutes for Harry Redknapp's side were just rewards for their domination.

Roman Pavlyuchenko headed in powerfully from Giovani dos Santos'a cross before Jermaine Defoe scored a similar header of his own.

Dos Santos was on the scoresheet soon after when he smashed home from close range after an incisive pass from Defoe.

The win has taken Spurs to second in Group A after Rubin Kazan drew 2-2 with PAOK Salonika.
