Andros Townsend hopeful of Europa League run

Tottenham Hotspur winger Andros Townsend is hopeful that his side can push deep into the latter stages of the Europa League this season.

Spurs secured their place in the group stages of the competition with a 3-0 win over AEL Limassol at White Hart Lane, as goals from Harry Kane, Paulinho and Townsend himself handed Mauricio Pochettino's men a 5-1 aggregate win.

Townsend told ITV Sport: "It was a good win and hopefully we can make our mark and go far this year.

"This was my first 90 minutes in a few months, hopefully it will not be long before I am back where I was last year."

Townsend was named in Roy Hodgson's England squad for their September matches against Norway and Switzerland on Thursday.
