Franco Di Santo and Arouna Kone get on the scoresheet as Wigan record a hard-earned away win at Southampton.

Premier League newcomers Southampton remain without a point this season following a 2-0 defeat to Wigan Athletic at St Mary's this afternoon.

The hosts dominated the opening 45 minutes, but they were kept at bay by an inspired display from Latics keeper Ali Al-Habsi.

Wigan went ahead on 51 minutes when Franco Di Santo collected Shaun Maloney's through ball before blasting into the top corner from a narrow angle.

Arouna Kone then marked his full Wigan debut with goal in the final minute of regulation time to put the victory beyond doubt.
