Sevilla wanted Barcelona's Douglas in summer

Sevilla sporting director Monchi has revealed that the Spanish club wanted to sign Barcelona full-back Douglas in the summer transfer window.

The 25-year-old joined Barca from Sao Paulo in the summer of 2014, but has largely struggled to make his mark at the Catalan outfit.

Monchi, who also revealed that his club "have 16 scouts", has said that Douglas 'has impressed Sevilla since he was in Brazil'.

"This summer the plan was to sign Douglas. We'd been impressed with him since he was in Brazil, he dazzled us all," Monchi told Cadena Ser.

Douglas has not yet made a single first-team appearance for Barcelona this season.
