Report: Sevilla to begin Ivan Rakitic talks

Sevilla sporting director Monchi will reportedly open contract talks with Croatian midfielder Ivan Rakitic and his agent this week.

The 25-year-old is widely regarded as one of the best players in La Liga, with his performances over the last 12 months drawing a host of interest from across Europe.

However, Rakitic has recently reiterated his desire to remain at the Estadio Ramon and according to Marca, Monchi has been tasked with handling the negotiations with Dejan Rakitic, who is the brother and agent of the club captain.

The same report has claimed that the midfielder's release clause will be lowered, in addition to a 'significant' improvement on his current salary.
