SBV Excelsior thrashed by five-star PEC Zwolle

SBV Excelsior were humiliated in front of their own fans as they suffered a 5-0 Eredivisie defeat at the hands of PEC Zwolle this afternoon.

Stefan Nijland opened the scoring for the visitors at the Stadion Woudestein Rotterdam as he collected a pass from Jody Lukoki before firing home on 19 minutes.

Zwolle doubled their lead just nine minutes later when the goalscorer turned provider, setting up Mustafa Saymak to successfully find the net.

The game was all but over by half time as Jesper Drost added a third following a good assist by the lively Ryan Thomas to set the visitors well on their way.

With the second half a formality, Nijland and Saymak added a goal apiece to secure braces and confirm a brutal defeat for the beleaguered hosts.
