Steve Evans eyeing further Rotherham United recruits

Steve Evans says that he has already made enquiries over bringing Premier League fringe players to Rotherham United on loan, but has so far had no success.

Steve Evans has revealed that he is looking to strengthen his Rotherham United squad during the emergency loan window.

The Millers are rooted to the foot of the Championship table after failing to win any of their opening seven fixtures.

Following the slow start to the campaign, Evans has already made enquiries over the availability of certain Premier League fringe players, but he has so far had little success.

Speaking ahead of Saturday's meeting with Cardiff City, the United boss told reporters: "People know there's three or four that could be available to go and play [elsewhere] and in respect of trying to get one or two in, we have tried to make some headway this week.

"We got permission from one Premier League club and the boy didn't want to come as he is probably waiting to see what other options he has and he has not made the 25-man squad for the Premier League. We will keep working hard and looking at where we need to improvement and try to."

Rotherham already have five loanees at the club, including Tottenham Hotspur youngster Grant Ward.
