Steve Evans fumes at refereeing "howler"

Rotherham United boss Steve Evans has blasted referee Andy Davies for his "howler" during last night's 1-1 draw at fellow strugglers Fulham.

Matt Derbyshire fired the Millers into a 1-0 half-time lead in a crucial relegation six-pointer at Craven Cottage.

However, the hosts earned parity and ultimately a point when Ross McCormack bundled the ball home on 67 minutes, and Evans insists that the goal should not have stood.

"Their goal came from a blatant Ross McCormack handball," he told Sky Sports News. "If a Championship official can't see that then he shouldn't be in the Championship.

"If it's not handball then I've not got a pair of eyes. The referee is a good guy, he doesn't mean to make a howler like that, but the reality is it's a big match and he's made a howler.

"But it shouldn't have come down to that, it should have come down to us coming away with a handsome victory."

United stay 21st in the Championship table, five points clear of 22nd-placed Millwall, who have a game in hand.

Rotherham were charged by the Football League earlier this week for fielding an ineligible player, with a points deduction among the sanctions touted.
