Sporting Lisbon move joint-top with win

Rio Ave slump to a 2-1 home defeat at the hands of Sporting Lisbon after first-half strikes from Adrien Silva and Islam Slimani.

Sporting Lisbon have moved level on points with Primeira Liga leaders Porto courtesy of a 2-1 win over Rio Ave this evening.

They took just nine minutes to open the scoring, as Adrien Silva rolled home a penalty.

Islam Slimani then scored six minutes before the break to give the visitors a two-goal cushion at the interval.

The hosts grabbed a lifeline when Yazalde fired home with little more than 20 minutes remaining, but Sporting Lisbon survived a late onslaught to maintain their 100% away record so far this season.
