Jesus Rueda: 'Fans need to lower expectations'

Real Valladolid captain Jesus Rueda believes that the team have been unfairly criticised by their own supporters this season.

Real Valladolid captain Jesus Rueda believes that the club's supporters need to lower their expectations this season.

The Spanish outfit currently sit 15th in La Liga having taken just 12 points from their 13 games this season, while they have one just once on their own patch thus far.

"We're not used to this sort of criticism here, because we've had two very good seasons and right now, we're where we should be; fighting to avoid relegation, which is our reality," he told reporters at a press conference.

"The fans have to take into account what we have, because it would be better for everyone. They would suffer less and we would have more of their support, because in the end, this is something we have to do with everyone pulling in the same direction, between those who are playing and those who are supporting.

"We battle with whatever strengths we have. This team is what it is and the situation of the club, is what it is. We're one of the most modest teams in the Primera and anything gained at places like Valencia, is good."

Valladolid finished 14th in La Liga last season.
