Report: Odegaard to leave Real Madrid on loan

Martin Odegaard will reportedly be sent on loan by Real Madrid next season to continue his development.

The 16-year-old is widely regarded as the standout youngster in European football and it was Real Madrid that won the race for his signature in January.

It had been thought that Real Madrid wanted the midfielder to play for their Castilla side for at least the next 12 months, but such thoughts are now being reviewed, with a loan move said to be under consideration.

According to reports in Spain, the teenager has been unable to build a rapport with his Castilla teammates due to the fact that he trains three times a week with the first team and picks up a significantly higher pay packet.

Odegaard, who is said to receive in the region of £40,000 a week, was recently dropped by Castilla boss Zinedine Zidane, but he returned to the XI against Tudelano on Sunday.

The midfielder's return was far from straightforward, however, with his performance drawing a host of criticism in Madrid.
