Real Madrid boss Julen Lopetegui is reportedly attempting to convince the club's board to make an approach for Valencia forward Rodrigo Moreno.

Real Madrid boss Julen Lopetegui has reportedly indicated that he wants to sign Valencia forward Rodrigo Moreno.

Cristiano Ronaldo made his exit from the Bernabeu earlier this summer, and the European champions are yet to sign a direct replacement for the club legend.

However, according to AS, Lopetegui has told the club's board that he wishes to sign Rodrigo, although it is suggested that Real's hierarchy do not share the same enthusiasm.

The 27-year-old has enjoyed a productive four years at the Mestalla Stadium with 37 goals being netted in 134 appearances in all competitions, and Real are said to be unwilling to meet the player's release clause of €120m (£107.72m).

Lopetegui has allegedly been told that the club are only prepared to pay around half that fee for the Spain international.
