Jese wins it for Real Madrid

Real Madrid have beaten Valencia 3-1 in this evening's La Liga encounter at the Mestalla.

Los Blancos took the lead in the 18th minute through Angel di Maria, but Pablo Piatti beat Sergio Ramos in the air to restore parity just five minutes later.

The visitors took a 2-1 advantage into half time after Cristiano Ronaldo headed home Di Maria's cross, although Jonas could have levelled once again just before the whistle.

Los Che managed to claw themselves back on level terms, this time with Jeremy Mathieu beating Romas to the header, just past the hour mark, but the game was decided when Jese's shot squirmed through Vicente Guaita's hands eight minutes from time.
