How Real Madrid could line up against Elche

How Real Madrid could line up against Elche

Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti will recall the likes of Thibaut Courtois, Casemiro, Luka Modric and Karim Benzema to his starting XI for Sunday's La Liga clash with Elche.

Ancelotti rung the changes for Thursday's Copa del Rey match against Elche, with Los Blancos running out 2-1 winners after extra-time to advance to the quarter-finals of the competition.

Courtois will shake off a slight injury complaint to feature between the sticks, while Casemiro and Modric will return in midfield, and Benzema will be back to lead the attack.

The home side will also be able to recall Eder Militao, who was absent on Thursday through suspension, while Ferland Mendy will be back in the side at left-back.

Real Madrid will again definitely be missing Mariano Diaz and Marco Asensio through injury, but Gareth Bale was back in the squad against Elche on Thursday after recovering from a back issue.

Los Blancos could also be boosted by the return of Dani Carvajal, who has recently been unavailable for selection due to a positive COVID-19 test.

Isco and Eden Hazard came off the bench to score against Elche on Thursday but are unlikely to be considered for starts, with Rodrygo set to retain his spot in attack alongside Vinicius Junior and Benzema.

Real Madrid possible starting lineup: Courtois; Vazquez, Militao, Alaba, Mendy; Modric, Casemiro, Kroos; Vinicius, Benzema, Rodrygo
