Real Madrid's Pepe hopeful for "spectacular season"

Pepe says that new Real Madrid coach Rafael Benitez can oversee a "spectacular season" at the Santiago Bernabeu in the 2015-16 campaign.

Pepe has warned Real Madrid's domestic and continental rivals that the Blancos will enjoy a "spectacular season" under new boss Rafael Benitez next term.

The Spanish giants endured a trophyless 2014-15 campaign which cost coach Carlo Ancelotti his job at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Nevertheless, defender Pepe is champing at the bit to begin working under Benitez, who he claims can lead the club to a trophy-laden season next time around.

"I can't wait for pre-season to start; I'm looking forward to returning to Madrid, linking up with my team-mates again, meeting Rafa Benitez and getting down to work," he told Marca.

"I'm really motivated because I'm convinced a spectacular season is in store for us.

"If we all work our guts off and pull together in the same direction, success will come, I have no doubt about that. We respect all our opponents, but we have a huge amount of quality in our squad."

Barcelona pipped Ancelotti's side to Liga glory, while the Catalans also won the Champions League, with Madrid eliminated by Juventus at the semi-final stage.
