Real Madrid boss Julen Lopetegui admits that there is room for improvement, but was pleased with the overall display of his side against Getafe.

Julen Lopetegui has declared himself "satisfied" with the manner of Real Madrid's 2-0 win over Getafe in his first La Liga game in charge.

The 51-year-old saw his side earn a straightforward victory with a goal either side of half time from Dani Carvajal and Gareth Bale, four days on from their UEFA Super Cup loss at the hands of Atletico Madrid.

Ex-Spain boss Lopetegui, appointed as Zinedine Zidane's successor in June, believes that his side deserve credit for the manner in which they overcame a defensively-solid Getafe.

"We're satisfied with the win and happy because the team did a lot right," he told reporters after the match. "There's still room for improvement at this stage of the season, as with all teams.

"We played with intensity, played as a team and scored two goals against a side who had the third-best defensive record last season and who came here and made things difficult."

Madrid travel to Girona in six days' time for their next league outing.
