Michael Essien says that Real Madrid will give it their all to win the Champions League this season, more than 10 years after last lifting the trophy.

Real Madrid midfielder Michael Essien has revealed that he and his teammates will "give everything" in their attempts to win the Champions League this season.

Madrid have not won Europe's biggest prize since 2002 and Essien said that it is his dream to win the competition.

"The Champions League has great significance," AS quotes Essien as saying.

"As a player you dream of winning it. We're going to give everything to see if we can get it."

Essien has made four Champions League appearances this season for Real.
