Reading secure promotion to the Premier League

Reading have secured promotion to the Premier League with a 1-0 victory over Nottingham Forest on Tuesday.

In order to achieve a place in the top flight of English football this evening, Brian McDermott's side had to better the result of West Ham United.

West Ham could only manage a 1-1 draw with Bristol City, opening the door for Reading to move eight points clear of third spot.

McDermott's side remain three points clear of Southampton in second, with two games of the Championship season left to play.

Reading return to the Premier League after a four-year absence.
