Gareth McCleary geared for step up to top flight

Reading's new signing Gareth McCleary has said that he is ready and raring to go in the Premier League next season.

The winger celebrated his 25th birthday by signing for the Royals, penning a three-year deal.

"It's the stuff that dreams are made of," McCleary told Sky Sports News. "I got off a flight on Tuesday and went and signed on Tuesday which was my birthday as well which was a really good birthday present for me.

"From the first time I met everyone it was somewhere I wanted to be and to know they are in the Premier League is fantastic for me as it is something I've always wanted to do.

"It is a brilliant move and it didn't take much thought to say yes."

McCleary was named Nottingham Forest's player of the year last season after having an impressive campaign.
