Nigel Adkins glad Reading have 'stopped rot' with draw against Nottingham Forest

Nigel Adkins is glad that Reading have "stopped the rot" with their home draw against Nottingham Forest.

Reading manager Nigel Adkins has said that it was important his side "stopped the rot" following the 1-1 draw with Nottingham Forest at the Madejski Stadium.

Full-back Stephen Kelly headed home in the 94th minute to salvage a point for the Royals, cancelling out Greg Halford's first-half header for the East Midlands side.

It was the first point in four games for Reading, who ended 2013 with a run of three consecutive defeats.

Adkins told reporters: "It's important that we've stopped the rot. We played some really good football in the previous games but they have been poor results.

"But a point today stops that trend and now we look forward to the FA Cup at the weekend (against Brighton).

"We've taken four points from a team we expect to be at the very top challenging with us for promotion, so that's a positive."

Reading currently occupy ninth place in the Championship.
