Rangers given 3.30pm deadline to appoint administrator

Glasgow Rangers have been given a deadline of 3.30pm this afternoon to appoint an administrator by a Court of Session in Edinburgh.

The Scottish Premier League are believed to have a company in mind to take charge of the day-to-day running of the club, although it remains to be seen whether they will be able to meet the imposed deadline.

Should the Gers fail to meet the request, the court will then appoint an administrator for the club.

Earlier today, HM Revenue and Customs filed a request to pick an administrator.

However, the court has decided that Rangers will be given the opportunity to select who they want first.

As soon as administration is confirmed, Rangers will be handed a ten-point deduction from the Scottish Premier League.
