Queens Park Rangers manager Harry Redknapp has told his players that they have "no divine right" to bounce back instantly from Premier League relegation.
The R's dropped down to the Championship last month when they drew 0-0 with Reading.
Redknapp's side ended a disappointing season on Sunday with a 1-0 defeat against Liverpool at Anfield.
"We've got no divine right to come straight back up," he told BBC Sport. "We'll have to work hard.
"I've inherited a group with some good professionals and also with people who are not so good. That has been the problem."
Redknapp is expected to sell a number of players over the summer as the club prepares for life in the Championship.
