Harry Redknapp says Richard Dunne is a 'top player'

Harry Redknapp hails the performance of Richard Dunne following his side's 1-0 win at Yeovil Town.

Queens Park Rangers manager Harry Redknapp has pointed to the performance of Richard Dunne as the crucial factor in his side's 1-0 win against Yeovil Town.

Charlie Austin scored the game's only goal from the penalty spot in the 75th minute to gift his side the win and send them three points clear at the top of the Championship table.

After the game, Redknapp said that it was a resolute defensive showing that won the game, and the 66-year-old reserved special praise for Dunne.

"We defended well again and dealt with a lot of set plays late on. Richard was immense, and so was Rob Green," Redknapp told BBC Sport.

"When I brought Richard into the club this summer I slept a lot easier because I knew we were signing a top player, a captain of his country and a Premier League player.

"If he stays fit, we have got a great centre half."

Despite extending their lead at the top of the table, Redkanpp is concerned by the lack of strikers of the club.

"The problem I've got is that I only have one striker," he added.

"We didn't create a lot of chances, and without Charlie Austin we would be in trouble.

"We lost Andy Johnson and Bobby Zamora has had an operation, so it's something we are working hard to try and find somebody to come in."

Redknapp joined QPR midway through last season, but could not prevent relegation from the Premier League.
