Queens Park Rangers to assess Charlie Austin injury

Kevin Bond says that Queens Park Rangers will assess Charlie Austin's injury.

Queens Park Rangers will have to assess Charlie Austin's shoulder injury, the club's assistant manager Kevin Bond has revealed.

The striker got the opening goal in the 2-1 home win against Bolton Wanderers on Tuesday following several minutes of treatment.

He tried to carry on but eventually had to come off in the second half, and Bond admits that losing Austin would be a big blow to QPR's promotion hopes.

"Charlie's got a problem with his shoulder and we don't yet know the extent of it," Bond told Sky Sports News.

"He had to come off after going on as long as he could. In the end it was too much for him and we'll have to assess it.

"He's as game as they come and got his goal from a great cross by Matt Phillips. We know we're reliant on Charlie and didn't need reminding."

Austin has 14 league goals this season.
