Hasselbaink "almost certain" to join QPR

Queens Park Rangers are "almost certain" to appoint Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink as their new manager in the next week, according to The Football League Paper.

The former Leeds United and Chelsea striker - currently in charge of Burton Albion - was linked with the post last week but the League One side were quick to deny reports of an approach.

"I can't control the speculation," Hasselbaink told reporters after his side's defeat to Bury last night. "It's very flattering and don't get me wrong, I'm an ambitious man, but I can only concentrate on Burton."

The newspaper claims that a deal to bring 1998-99's Premier League Golden Boot winner to Loftus Road could now be agreed ahead of next weekend's home clash with Leeds United.

Neil Warnock, who has been in caretaker charge since the dismissal of Chris Ramsey, missed yesterday's 1-0 loss at Middlesbrough due to "personal reasons".
