PSG, Bayern 'in tug-of-war over Coutinho'

Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich are reportedly in a tug-of-war over securing the services of Philippe Coutinho this month.

Barcelona are determined to dispense with Coutinho after the Brazilian failed to acclimatise at Camp Nou last season, managing a paltry total of five La Liga goals.

Reports have suggested that Coutinho is being used as leverage by the Catalan side in order to secure a return to Spain for Neymar, who desperately wants a move out of PSG.

According to Sport, Bayern have also waded into the race as they look to secure a replacement for James Rodriguez after the Colombian returned to Real Madrid following a two-year loan at the Allianz Arena.

The Bundesliga champions, who have lost Arjen Robben and Franck Ribery, would propose a loan move for Coutinho with an option to buy.

Barcelona, meanwhile, have reportedly offered PSG a sum of £55m plus Coutinho in a cash-plus-player deal as the La Liga champions intensify their pursuit of Neymar.
