PSG suffer cup upset at hands of Montpellier

Paris Saint-Germain's quadruple dreams are dashed as Montpellier win 2-1 and condemn the Parisian side to their first home defeat since November 2012.

Montpellier have progressed to the last 16 of the Coupe de France after beating Paris Saint-Germain 2-1 at the Parc des Princes.

The home side started the brighter, with chances coming from Javier Pastore, Marco Verratti and Gregory van der Wiel, but Montpellier ended up taking the lead against the run of play, Daniel Congre seizing on a Nicolas Douchez mistake to make it 1-0 to the away side.

Edinson Cavani then equalised for the Parisian outfit midway through the first half, the Uruguayan tapping the ball in after a pass from Lucas Digne.

However, the home side couldn't find a second, and would rue their missed chances as Victor Hugo Montano planted a bullet header past Douchez in the 69th minute.

There would be no further reply from PSG, as Montpellier held on for the win and condemned the Ligue 1 giants to their first home loss since November 2012.
