Bento leaves job as Portugal boss

Portugal manager Paulo Bento has left his position with the national side by mutual consent.

The Portuguese Football Federation announced the news today following Sunday's 1-0 defeat to Albania in their opening Euro 2016 qualifier.

The 45-year-old, who signed a contract extension with the Portuguese FA last April, first took on the role in September 2010.

Bento guided the national side to the semi-finals of Euro 2012, but failed to progress past the group phase at this summer's World Cup in Brazil.
