Preview: Osasuna vs. Leganes - prediction, team news, lineups

Sports Mole previews Saturday's La Liga clash between Osasuna and Leganes, including team news and predicted lineups.

Leganes will be looking to boost their La Liga survival hopes when they head to Osasuna on Saturday night.

The visitors are currently 19th in Spain's top flight, four points from the safety of 17th position, while Osasuna occupy 11th spot in the division, 12 points clear of the relegation zone.

Unless something extraordinary happens in the latter stages of the 2019-20 campaign, Osasuna will again play top-flight football next term, having enjoyed a solid season to date.

Indeed, Jagoba Arrasate's side have picked up 38 points from their 31 matches this season to sit 11th in the table, some 12 points clear of the relegation zone and just four points off the top half of the division.

Osasuna secured a return to La Liga for the 2019-20 campaign courtesy of winning the Segunda Division last season and consolidating at this level was always going to be the club's number one priority this term.

Los Rojillos have lost two of their last three matches against Atletico Madrid and Valencia, but an impressive 1-0 victory away to Alaves on Wednesday night was another huge step towards securing safety.

Leganes, meanwhile, have picked up two points from their four matches since returning to action on June 13, which has not been enough to see them move out of the relegation zone.

The strugglers will enter this game off the back of successive draws with Mallorca and Granada, but they remain 19th in the division, four points from the safety of 17th position.

No team has won fewer La Liga matches than Leganes (5) this term, and they are facing the possibility of dropping out of the top tier for the first time since the 2015-16 campaign.

There are still a lot of points to be played for in the coming weeks, though, and a positive result on Saturday would hand Javier Aguirre's side confidence ahead of a home game against Sevilla on June 30.

Team News

Osasuna will definitely be without the services of Ezequiel Avila for Saturday's affair, while Ruben Martinez, Javi Martinez, Facundo Roncaglia and Robert Ibanez are all doubts.

On-loan Watford defender Pervis Estupinan was named on the bench against Alaves but should return for this game, while Marc Cardona and Darko Brasanac are also expected to make the XI.

As for Leganes, Alexander Szymanowski remains on the sidelines with a knee problem, while Guido Carrillo is a doubt due to the knee problem that he picked up against Granada.

Oscar Rodriguez took Carrillo's place during the match, and the Spaniard is expected to come into the starting XI alongside Miguel Guerrero, who missed a penalty against El Grana.

Roque Mesa is also likely to come into Aguirre's thinking for a spot in the middle of the park.

Osasuna possible starting lineup:
Herrera; Vidal, Aridane, D Garcia, Lato; Torres, Oier, Brasanac, R Garcia; Callego, Cardona

Leganes possible starting lineup:
Pichu; Ruibal, Bustinza, Omeruo, Silva, Rodrigues; Mesa, Perez, Eraso; Guerrero, Rodriguez

We say: Osasuna 1-1 Leganes

Leganes certainly need the points more than Osasuna, but the strugglers have only won one away match this season. Osasuna's home record is actually the fourth worst in the division, though, and we believe that Leganes have enough to claim a point on Saturday night.
