Aston Villa's Jake Grealish up for League One award after Notts County displays

Villa teenager up for L1 monthly award

On-loan Aston Villa teenager Jake Grealish has been announced as one of the four nominees for April's League One Player of the Month award.

The tricky midfielder helped Notts County to some crucial wins as they clambered out of the bottom four.

The other three nominees are Rotherham United striker Kieran Agard, David Edwards of Wolverhampton Wanderers and Preston North End's Paul Gallagher.

Agard scored five goals in six games for Rotherham as they secured a spot in this month's playoffs.

Edwards, meanwhile, scored in four separate games for Wolves as they romped to the league title.

Gallagher scored a hat-trick in Preston's win over Shrewsbury Town as well as setting up eight of their goals last month.

The winner will be announced on Friday morning.
