Forest confirm defender arrival, Lamptey heading for Serie A: Latest transfer news and rumours today

Nottingham Forest have confirmed the signing of defender Nicolo Savona from Juventus.

The 22-year-old made 40 appearances for the Old Lady during the 2024-25 campaign, having broken into the first team, and there has been speculation surrounding his future this summer.

Forest have won the race to sign the Italy Under-21s international, with the transfer worth in the region of £13.4m.

“I am very excited to be here. It is a new experience for me as a person and a player. It is such a historic club, and the move is a dream come true," Savona told Forest's official website.

“I can’t wait to play in front of the fans at the city Ground, and I will give my all for the shirt.”

Meanwhile, chief football officer Ross Wilson, said: “Nicolo gained great experience with Juventus last season, and we’re really pleased he is joining us for his next step.”

“He is a versatile player who will be another strong option in our defensive unit, and we are convinced he will continue to develop here at Forest. He understands the demands of playing for a big club and arrives here keen to make an impact straight away. We look forward to welcoming him to our group.”

Savona, who is capable of playing across the defence, has penned a five-year contract at Forest, and he has become the club's ninth signing of a busy summer transfer window.

Brighton's Lamptey 'on the verge' of securing Fiorentina switch

Meanwhile, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Brighton & Hove Albion defender Tariq Lamptey is on the verge of making the move to Italian giants Fiorentina.

The 24-year-old made the move to Brighton from Chelsea in 2020, and he has represented the Seagulls on 122 occasions in all competitions, including 20 outings during the 2024-25 campaign.

There has been a host of speculation surrounding the defender's future this summer.

However, Fiorentina have seemingly won the race for his signature, with the Serie A outfit expected to confirm his arrival before the transfer deadline on Monday.

Reports in Italy have claimed that Brighton are likely to receive €6m (£5.2m) plus bonuses for the full-back, who is set to pen a four-year contract with the Purples.

The eight-time Ghana international only has a contract at the Amex until June 2026.

Wolves 'agree deal' for Genk forward

Elsewhere, Wolverhampton Wanderers have reportedly come to an agreement with Genk over a move for Tolu Arokodare.

Transfer expert Romano claims that a €27m (£23.4m) fee has been agreed, and a medical is expected to take place on Saturday, with the Premier League club on track to secure the deal before Monday's transfer deadline.

The 24-year-old enjoyed an impressive 2024-25 campaign for his Belgian club, scoring 23 times in all competitions, although he is yet to get off the mark in five appearances during the current season.

In total, the Nigeria international has 41 goals and 12 assists in 113 appearances for his current side, while he has 84 professional club goals to his name, including spells at Amiens SC and Valmiera FC.

Providing that there are no late setbacks, a deal will be secured ahead of the deadline, with the striker's debut for Wolves potentially coming in their Premier League clash with Newcastle United after the international break.
