Bournemouth vs. Nottingham Forest: Premier League title contenders bidding to equal 31-year streak

Forest bidding to equal 31-year streak in Bournemouth game

Nottingham Forest will be bidding to equal a 31-year streak when they square off against Bournemouth on Saturday afternoon.

The East Midlands outfit make the trip to the South coast sitting in third position in the Premier League table.

Having only narrowly survived in the top flight during 2023-24, Nuno Espirito Santo's side have impressively accumulated 44 points from their 22 fixtures this season.

Forest's credentials will be put to the test at the Vitality Stadium by a team that have defied injury issues to put together an 11-match unbeaten streak in all competitions.

Nevertheless, Nuno's side will have the target of equalling a 31-year run when they take to the pitch against the Cherries.

What Forest streak is on the line?

If Forest are able to prevail against Bournemouth, they will record a fifth successive away league victory for the first time during that period.

That was last achieved in the First Division back in 1993-94, a season in which Forest were eventually promoted to the Premier League.

Frank Clark's team registered victories at West Bromwich Albion, Sunderland, Bristol City, Watford and Tranmere Rovers respectively.

You have to go all the way back to March 1989 since Forest last achieved such a feat in the top flight.

With regards to this season, their four-game winning streak on their travels has consisted of success over Manchester United, Brentford, Everton and Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Although Forest have conceded 12 times in their 11 away league fixtures, clean sheets have been posted in their most recent three such encounters.

Bournemouth bidding to extend club record

Bournemouth head into this contest having already put together a club-record unbeaten run in the Premier League, registering six wins and four draws.

Andoni Iraola's side may have only scored 12 times at the Vitality Stadium but they possess the best defensive home record in the division, conceding just seven times in 10 games on familiar territory.

Furthermore, Bournemouth are defending a nine-match undefeated streak against Forest in league matches.
